Newly Launched IOTA Pollen V0.2.2 Achieves Over 10K Transactions in One Second
The newly launched IOTA Tangle Pollen, version 0.2.2 has achieved a productive capacity of over 10,000 transactions in one second during a recent test of its synchronization process, however, the Pollen network basically is a research Testbed for the IOTA Foundation, its community, and external researchers.
Pollen is the first fully decentralized public Testnet for IOTA 2.0 released by the IOTA foundation; it was released in June and also serves as the first decentralized version of IOTA Tangle on Mainnet and is regarded as the production-ready version of the protocol.
The IOTA foundation had announced Pollen as the initial stage of its strategic launch of project Coordicide, to lay the foundation for a functional network and transform into a final feature-rich release candidate through regular iterative for IOTA 2.0.
In the light of these, the IOTA Foundation on Monday, July 27, 2020, launched a minor, version of Pollen V.0.2.2 which features three noteworthy improvements in messaging and transaction validation aspects, the improvements include Added signature validation before issuance, Adjusted max transaction inputs count, and Enforced max message size in message factory.
Furthermore, there are new improvements in the Synchronization process which include improved solidification process, Refactored worker pool management, Refactored message requester to be more reliable, and replaced the bootstrap plug-in with the more secure and reliable beacon plug-in.
The changes in the Pollen 0.2.2 according to the IOTA foundation seems to have paid off, as the project began to showcase a peak performance of 1,500 transactions per second within the first week of its launch; the foundation noted that this performance is times twelve the current Mainnet performance which it later topped with over 10K transaction in one second during a test for the synchronization process on Tuesday 28th of July.
Other improvements added to the new Pollen version 0.2.2 as announced by the IOTA foundation include improvements in the API, the local Grafana dashboard, the analysis server dashboard, and the integration of an ElectricShimmer to provide a graphical user interface (GUI).
